Plastic dumbbells come in a variety of options.
• Standard (exactly like the wood one).
• High Profile (HP - available in all size plastic dumbbells): Thinner diameter bars are available for our plastic dumbbells, providing higher clearance and easier mouth grip. This feature is particularly helpful for the herding and toy breeds.
• High Angle (HA - available in sizes 6 cm - 9 cm): A shallow taper on the ends of this dumbbell (straighter sides - almost no taper at all) provides for a good snug fit for the long narrow nosed dogs (Belgians, Bassets, German Shepherds, Collies, Shelties, Borzois), also providing easier balance because of the shorter overall length. This style is generally not appropriate for average square muzzled dogs such as sporting dogs, as the ends will interfere with their vision.
• Low Angle (LA - available in sizes 4 cm - 5 cm): A lower angle on these dumbbell ends provides a snug fit for the flat or pug nosed dogs while keeping ends away from eyes and cheekbones. Also good for large eyed dogs (e.g. Pug, Cavalier, Boston Terrier, Shitzu, Pekinese). |

One-Piece Wood Turned Dumbbells
Max 200 dumbbells are turned from one solid piece of material for maximum durability. The single piece design solves the problem of the dumbbell twisting apart with use. Ends are tapered to avoid obstructing the dog's vision and shaped in such a way to eliminate excessive bounce. When properly fit, the dumbbell should rest snugly behind the canine teeth to prevent improper pick-up, head tossing and mouthing. The ends should be high enough to allow for a clean pickup. The chart below indicates the most common sizes. Custom sizes are available in all types of dumbbells. Measurements are in centimeters for a more precise fit.
